Week 2 - Music

I'm just back from my third run of the week

I managed 6.4 miles this week in 3 runs, my best pace was 10:45.

I really enjoyed the run and managed to avoid showers and puddles.

My legs are much better this week but the gastrocnemius are feeling more wear today, compared to last week which were the quadriceps. I couldn't walk!

I am going off a little faster, listening to Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus. I must find a slower start track, suggestions welcome ...

I end with The Rockafeller Skank by Fatboy Slim, which provides a great sprint finish...

The aim for this week is to increase the distance and maintain pace around 11.

Running Vest

I was very lucky to be contacted by Kevin from Sobell House, he asked whether they could help in any way and I was sent a running vest for the big day.

Thank you very much Kevin.

The First Run

I am pleased with the first run, just over 2 miles done in 24 mins and the pace was ok (12 minutes a miles).

The weather was great and the views are lovely down the country lane, I even caught a picture of the farmer!

My legs hurt tonight, my quads mainly, so I think more stretching required after the next run.

Pace - To finish a half marathon in under 2 hours (not sure if that is my goal yet) you need to run at an average pace of 9 mins 14 seconds.

And So It Begins ...

The Oxford half marathon has been booked today.

I am running in memory of Jay (step-brother) and aiming to raise £500 for Sobell House Hospice Charity in Oxford.

13.5 miles ... I have not run for over 2 years, I have a huge challenge in front of me. I am feeling very over weight, wobbly and sluggish.

My running partner Emily is miles in front of me. I have a month before we start running together, I need to get up to a good pace and stamina.

Let the training begin ...
